Coffee Talk with Sophie

My online collections of random thoughts, poems, essays, reviews, and stories that tackles about life, love, relationships, experiences, adventures, dreams, inspirations and everything to talk about over a cup of coffee.... C'mon now and take a sip...

Be Connected!

Whenever we feel the stress and pressure from work and when life gets a little adverse, there's no other place we wanted to be but in our own little haven-our comfort zone!  I'm not  talking about indulging ourselves in front our computers while keeping up with our social networks like friendster, facebook and twitter.  What I'm telling is it's better to let ourselves off the hook! It's okay to go out and  get connected with real human beings! Nothing compares with the experiences and moments shared with  our good old friends.

As for me, I  keep up with life by going out with my friends  and colleagues once in awhile just to catch up with each other while enjoying a couple of cocktail drinks, sharing our comfort food  accompanied by  familiar  music like old school rock, r&b, acoustic, & bossanova.

Now, let me share with you some of the good places to chill and relax within the Metro:

Top Picks of a Couch Potato: 2010

Have you ever ditched your friends on a weekend and totally detached yourself from the outside world? Well, I do! The reason—hooked on the heart-pounding and mind-boggling scenes from an all day TV show marathon. The fast-paced, complex stories and unexpected plot twists will truly make you look forward to every episode. Take a glimpse of my personal favorites:

#10. HEROES
SYNOPSIS: It is a serial saga about people all over the world discovering that they have superpowers and trying to deal with how this change affects their lives. Not only are they discovering what having superpowers means to them but also the larger picture of where their superpowers come from. Eventually their superpowers draw them together when they try to evade the series' antagonist who wants to harness their super-DNA for himself. Their ultimate destiny is nothing less than saving the world.

# 9. DEXTER
SYNOPSIS:Based on Jeff Lindsay's novel Darkly Dreaming Dexter, this new crime thriller tells the story of a strange man named Dexter Morgan. Once an abused and abandoned child, Dexter is now a successful forensics pathologist...but lurking just beneath his charismatic personality is a terrible truth. Dexter has corralled his innate homicidal urges into a closely guarded second career: He hunts down and brutally murders those vicious criminals who have managed to avoid the clutches of the law... A serial killer that hunts serial killers.

#8. NIP/TUCK
SYNOPSIS: Nip/Tuck is a show that follows the lives of two successful plastic surgeons in Miami. Sean McNamara and Christian Troy are best friends and business partners. Sean is a family man who is always trying to improve his marriage, which is falling apart, and his strained relationship with his son, Matt. Christian, on the other hand, is the definition of playboy. He is single, charming, and a sexual predator. Together these two men are the best plastic surgery team in Florida, and their lives create endless drama.

#7. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
SYNOPSIS: Narrated by the late Mary Alice Young, Desperate Housewives takes viewers inside Wisteria Lane, a small section of suburban America that's anything but ordinary. This primetime soap delves deep into the lives of a circle of women with a mix dark humor and drama that helps expose the truth that things are never as they seem. The tale of these women started with the death of one of their own, Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong). Even though she is a resident of Wisteria no longer, she guides us through the daily lives of her close friends, family and neighbors from her unique and all-seeing point of view.

#6.GREY'S ANATOMY
SYNOPSIS: Meet Meredith Grey. She's a woman trying to lead a real life while doing a job that makes having a real life impossible. Meredith is a first year surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital, the toughest surgical residency program west of Harvard. She and fellow first-year interns Cristina Yang, Izzie Stevens, George O'Malley and Alex Karev were students yesterday. Today they're doctors and, in a world where on the job training can be a matter of life and death, they're all juggling the ups and downs of their own personal lives. The five interns struggle to form friendships in this most stressful and competitive atmosphere.

#5.CRIMINAL MINDS
SYNOPSIS: The Behavioral Analysis Unit is composed of an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds and anticipate their next moves before they strike again. Criminal Minds stars Mandy Patinkin as Special Agent Jason Gideon, Thomas Gibson as Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, Lola Glaudini as Elle Greenaway, Shemar Moore as Special Agent Derek Morgan, Matthew Gray Gubler as Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid, AJ Cook as Jennifer Jareau, and Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope Garcia.

#4. CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION
SYNOPSIS:CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an innovative, fast-paced drama that follows a crew of forensic investigators as they solve crimes by analyzing evidence with advanced forensic tools.

#3.PRISON BREAK

SYNOPSIS: Lincoln Burrows is on death row for the murder of the Vice President's brother. He insists he's innocent, but no one other than his brother Michael Scofield believes him. An engineer who was hired to renovate the prison where Lincoln is being held, Michael takes drastic measures to help his brother. He robs a bank and is sent to the same prison, so that with his knowledge of the building the two of them can escape together. However, the plan soon becomes more complicated than Michael intended as other prisoners find out about the plot and want to escape too. Michael also discovers a massive governmental conspiracy that is determined to see Lincoln executed when two crooked federal agents try to silence Burrows' ex-wife and son. Breaking out will be more difficult than he thought, but he's still going to give it his all.
STATUS: AIRING

#2. HOUSE
SYNOPSIS: From executive producers Paul Attanasio, Katie Jacobs, David Shore, and Bryan Singer comes a new take on mystery, where the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients. Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) is devoid of bedside manner and wouldn't even talk to his patients if he could get away with it. Dealing with his own constant physical pain, he uses a cane that seems to punctuate his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. While his behavior can border on antisocial, House is a maverick physician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts have afforded him a great deal of respect. An infectious disease specialist, he's a brilliant diagnostician who loves the challenges of the medical puzzles he must solve in order to save lives.

#1. 24
SYNOPSIS:One of the tensest, most intriguing television shows airing today, the critically acclaimed 24 has captured the attention of millions of viewers. Created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, 24 has become one of FOX's leading TV shows. It centres around its main protagonist, Jack Bauer, as well as a plethora of supporting characters. Bauer, a skilled government agent, works in the Counter Terrorist Unit, located in Los Angeles. Over the course of seven thrilling seasons, Jack Bauer has evaded terrorists, nuclear weapons, assassins, and many other sinister figures, all with equally sinister goals in mind. 24 is highly unique in the fact that each season takes place over 24 hours in real time, with each episode spanning one hour of the day.
